Food Musing Part II

Food prepration is getting challenging, there is just too many varieties of food, that at times, I am not sure what to prepare. I recalled, how my mum will keep asking us " What do you feel like eating today?" Now I realise, she took effort in making sure we like the food.

For Joshua, I love preparing his food. I love having variety. I love noting down his menu for the week, making sure he touched on each of the food nutrients group. (Mummies, keep a note book, it helps!)

Just on his 8mth month, I introduced cod fish. He likes it better than "Wu Yu", probably because it is less fishy in taste, also, it has a nice buttery flavour. I realise if you cook it with brown rice, it helps to cover the fishy taste better (when cooking fish). The downside of meat, is constipation. Meat protein is generally harder to digest, which mean the baby tummy had to work harder. So, give just a small portion, and match up that day with a little fruit.

Introduced green peas, ya ya, you read stories how kids picks on green pea, trust me, even the Daddy does it now ( haa...) But! For the son, he simply loves it. However peas are hard to prepare, you have to steam it, peel of the skin. So for me, I bought Healthy Times green peas off the organic shop. Each time just throw a scope into the cereal or porridge.

Another food that he really loves is Yogurt. However, it gives him really bad fart, and leading to crankyness in the night. *signs of reaction to milk* Guess I would have to delay the introduction to his 9mth. My advise is to give organics or soy yogurt, if your baby don't take formula.

Planning to try frog legs, and nuts next or maybe more fruits. May just have cereal with fruits for lunch next week.

anyway.. i'm a foodie.. i love cooking..so ren bu zhu have to give my 5 cents worth..

have you tried pumkin?? it's very good, naturally sweet, very easy to mash and can eat it.

another really good baby food would be oatmeal. High in fiber and easy to prepare.

fish is REALLY really good. it's great for everyone.. have you tried "Xue Yu?" aka snow fish. It's kinda expensive. But it's very flavorful. just steam with ginger and garlic and it'd be wonderful for lil' joshua. And if you don't mind salmon, you can get it for him as well cause it's rich in Omega 3 oils.

wah.. i could go on and on man.. hahah..

btw.. my nephew who is 3 is also called Joshua! and to me.. ALL joshuas are gorgeous looking babes!

I luv mixing the grains togather, brown rice and oatmeal and even millet! i 'Steal' a portion of Joshua lunch as my breakfast. Yum Yum.

Yes Xue Yu is cod fish. I just had it today. Haa..Have you tried Flaxseed oil, can blend into cereal. Even better source of Omega 3 oil, higher than the fish.
